Yamaha’s Stage Custom Birch Euro 22" kit in Cranberry Red represents a thoughtful approach to mid-range drum construction. Built entirely from 100% birch–long regarded as the shell material of choice in quality kits–the Stage Custom prioritises resonance and sustain through a six-ply design that transmits impact vibrations cleanly across the bearing edges. The hardware has been upgraded to match the shell quality, creating a cohesive instrument rather than a collection of separate components.

The YESS (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System) mounting approach minimises shell contact by anchoring hardware at the drum’s nodal point–the only position where mounting won’t dampen vibration. Nylon bushings on rod clamps ensure rigidity during heavy playing, whilst the system permits tom placement close together without compromising quick head changes. The ball mount features a large ultra-hard resin sphere seated in chromed housing, controlled by a titanium ergonomic wing bolt, allowing precise tom positioning and bottom-head tuning by drum rotation. Die-cast claw hooks with rubber insertion plates suppress metallic noise. The kit ships with a 22" × 17" bass drum, 10" and 12" toms, 16" floor tom, 14" snare, and HW780 hardware set.
