At the heart of the BB400's superior performance lies its innovative six-bolt miter neck construction, which creates an exceptionally tight bond between neck and body. This advanced joinery method surpasses conventional bolt-on designs by maximising string vibration transfer throughout the instrument, resulting in remarkable sustain and resonance that brings clarity to every note you play.

The BB400 models showcase Yamaha's Vintage Plus Light bridge system, providing the flexibility of stringing through either the bridge or body. The unique 45-degree angle body stringing reduces string tension compared to traditional vertical through-body methods whilst efficiently channelling vibration energy. Five-string models include an offset low B string configuration, with long-scale strings recommended for bridge stringing and super long-scale strings for body stringing.

Modern BB400 basses feature a robust 5-piece maple and mahogany laminated neck construction that combines maple's penetrating attack with mahogany's natural warmth.
