This professional large-diaphragm tube microphone meticulously replicates the original AKG C12 produced in Austria from 1953-1963, when only 2500 units were manufactured. The WA-CX12 maintains the same organic tone and pleasing top end that made the original so sought-after by world-renowned engineers and artists including Tom Petty, Michael Jackson, Alanis Morissette, and Lupe Fiasco.

At the heart of the WA-CX12 lies an edge-terminated, all-brass CK12-style capsule that stays true to the frequency response of the original production run. This capsule provides 9 polar patterns including the standard cardioid, omni, and figure-8, plus 6 intermediate patterns for maximum versatility. The circuit design remains faithful to the 1953-1963 specifications, featuring a mostly flat response until a slight dip at 2kHz followed by a gradual boost between 5-10kHz that adds the signature smoothness to vocal performances and instrumental recordings.
