This remarkable microphone incorporates premium elements including a NOS Fairchild transistor, high–bandwidth polystyrene and film capacitors from Wima, and a custom–wound Cinemag USA output transformer that provides enhanced output level and improved frequency response. The capsule remains faithful to the exact specifications found in the original vintage units, creating an incredibly accurate sonic replica of arguably the most widely–used studio microphone in popular recording history.

The WA–87 R2 maintains the versatility that made its vintage inspiration so beloved, featuring three polar patterns (cardioid, omni, and figure 8) to handle diverse recording applications. An 80Hz high pass filter effectively reduces low–frequency rumble when required, whilst the switchable –10dB pad proves invaluable when recording extremely loud sources without overloading the internal electronics.
