Warm Audio's meticulous approach to recreating this studio legend involved extensive comparison testing with two different vintage '47 microphones, using these as the sonic benchmark for their modern interpretation. The challenge lay in sourcing appropriate components when many original parts are no longer manufactured, yet the result is a microphone that sounds genuinely indistinguishable from the vintage units on multiple sources. The WA-47 makes this classic sound accessible at a price point that opens the door for more recording enthusiasts than ever before.

At the heart of the WA-47 sits a custom reproduction of the vintage K47-style capsule, manufactured in a clean-room environment with the same hole pattern and frequency response as the original. Each gold-sputtered, dual large diaphragm capsule uses 6-micron NOS Mylar film and undergoes individual visual inspection and electrical testing. Premium components throughout include a Tab-Funkenwerk USA output transformer, JJ Slovak 5751 vacuum tube, and carefully selected WIMA, Solen French and polystyrene capacitors, ensuring exceptional sonic performance with specifications including 11dBA self-noise, 130dBA dynamic range and 140dB maximum SPL handling.
