Warm Audio's WA-2A brings the legendary warmth and character of classic '2A optical compression within reach of recording artists who've been priced out of boutique analog gear. This high-voltage, Class-A opto-compressor captures the renowned fluid qualities that have made '2A style circuits the go-to choice for vocals, bass, and program material across decades of professional recording. The unit's sophisticated design centres around premium components including large-core CineMag USA transformers, four carefully selected vacuum tubes, and the legendary Kenetek opto-cell - widely regarded as the world's finest.

The WA-2A operates on four tubes: two 12AX7's, one 12BH7, and one 6AQ5 (or 6P1J), with Warm Audio utilising premium Tung-Sol and Electro-Harmonix brands that provide an open, expansive sound character. All tubes are socketed for convenient swapping and replacement, while the USA-made Kenetek opto-cell attenuator T4 style module is also socketed to allow retrofitting with alternative opto-cells. The fully discrete signal path maintains the authentic analog character that digital processing simply cannot replicate.

Professional features include variable pre-emphasis for compression high-pass filtering, stereo-link capability via TRS connector, and both XLR and TRS balanced inputs and outputs at 600 ohms impedance. The unit offers impressive specifications with 40dB gain, frequency response of +/-1dB from 15Hz to 20kHz, and less than 0.1% THD distortion.
