Andy Wood has redefined what it means to be a modern guitarist, seamlessly blending bluegrass roots with electric mastery to create something entirely new. From competing in festivals as a child alongside his cousin and grandfather to winning Guitar Centre's "Guitarmageddon" competition at 22, Wood's journey has been nothing short of remarkable. His professional touring credits include major acts like Rascal Flatts, Gary Allan, Locash, Scott Stapp, and Sebastian Bach, while his album "Junktown" showcases a masterful fusion of progressive southern-inspired guitar styles that blur traditional genre boundaries.
The Wampler Gearbox Andy Wood Signature pedal was born from the prototype used during the recording of "Junktown", combining modified versions of two beloved Wampler drive circuits: the Tumnus and the Pinnacle. This dual-channel powerhouse features a top-switchable stacking order control, dual inputs and outputs, plus a unique noise gate, all housed in premium components with a stunning finish that makes it one of Wampler's most versatile creations.
Channel 1, based on the legendary Tumnus, adapts to any board setup and playing style with remarkable flexibility. Use it as a standalone overdrive, a slightly dirty boost to push your amp's front end, or stack it with another pedal to shape your total gain structure. Channel 2 draws from the popular Pinnacle distortion pedal to produce that legendary "Brown Sound", complete with three-band EQ for dialling in soaring lead tones while the built-in noise gate maintains crystal-clear definition.
The Order switch gives you complete control over which pedal leads your signal chain, while connecting both input and output sets to an external switcher opens up parallel or series mixing possibilities. Andy chose the name Gearbox because this pedal was designed to be the driving force behind your sound, whether you're stacking both channels for warm yet brutal grunt or using them individually for delicate harmonic control.
