Reviving the legendary Italian craftsmanship of the mid–1960s, the VOX Bobcat V90 brings back the distinctive semi–hollow body guitars that defined an era. Originally produced in Italy during the golden age of guitar manufacturing, the Bobcat and Lynx models featured unconventional pickup configurations and a striking aesthetic that set them apart from their contemporaries. This modern revival maintains the historic design integrity whilst incorporating significant improvements to playability, feedback control, and pickup performance that today's musicians demand.

The heart of the Bobcat V90 lies in its carefully engineered pickup system, featuring two original soapbar–style pickups modelled after the Italian originals but with enhanced voicing. These pickups utilise flat–pole pieces rather than traditional screw pole pieces, creating bright single–coil tones whilst preserving the warmth and punch characteristic of soapbar pickups and semi–hollow construction. This sonic versatility makes the instrument suitable across multiple genres, from jazz and blues to rock and indie. The newest models include a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece and are available in jet black and sapphire blue finishes.

Significant construction improvements distinguish this modern iteration from its vintage predecessors. The set neck joint replaces the original bolt–on design, providing superior access to higher frets and improved sustain. A weight–relieved spruce centre block enhances sustain and dynamics whilst effectively controlling the feedback issues commonly associated with semi–hollow guitars, allowing confident performance at high volumes. The fixed Tune–o–matic bridge ensures optimal neck angle and playability, whilst specially selected tuning pegs improve stability and reduce headstock weight for better balance and consistent tone transfer.
