The Crossroads series represents Tanglewood’s dedication to recreating the authentic sound and aesthetic of 1930’s American guitars through meticulous craftsmanship and traditional values. This remarkable collection pays tribute to classic instruments from this golden era, with Tanglewood commissioning the expertise of renowned luthier Michael Sanden, creator of the Sanden Guitar company in Sweden and chief design consultant for Tanglewood Guitars through Tanglewood Masterdesign.
Michael’s approach begins with careful timber selection, choosing woods that complement each other sonically whilst crafting soundboards to precise measurements that flex and respond to the player’s touch. His custom bracing patterns give each instrument its own distinct personality, combining special construction methods with premium wood selection to create something truly exceptional.
The Crossroads guitars feature an authentic 1930’s aesthetic, enhanced by a stunning dark tobacco burst stain that gives these instruments their historic and elegant appearance. Michael insisted on implementing premium neck profiles, bridge contouring, and fret inlaying without compromise to manufacturing costs, ensuring these guitars embody Tanglewood’s commitment to outstanding value and performance for both professional and amateur musicians alike.
