Tama Starphonic Stainless Steel PSS146 14x6inch

The Tama Starphonic Steel PSS146 brings the legendary resonance of 1920s vintage metal snare drums into the modern era with cutting–edge engineering. This 14x6" snare features a 1mm thick stainless steel shell combined with R.S.E. (Resonant Sound Edge) technology, producing an open, bright sound with solid and rich resonance that captures the essence of classic metal snares.

At the heart of this instrument lies Tama's innovative Freedom Lug system with Claw Hook design, featuring a patented quick–release mechanism that allows drummers to replace drum heads without completely removing tension rods. The Non–Loosening Rubber Gasket technology prevents tension bolts from loosening during performance, while the Super Sensitive Hi–Carbon Snare Wire provides exceptional sensitivity and crisp response through its redesigned materials and customised coil winding pattern.

The Linear–Drive strainer system sets this snare apart with its precise control and smooth deployment motion, eliminating the typical wire slap found in conventional strainers. Combined with the Ratchet Style Snappy Tension Adjuster offering micro–adjustments of 0.083mm per click, drummers can achieve ultra–precise snare wire tension. The Detachable Butt Plate allows head changes while maintaining original snare wire calibration, making maintenance both quick and reliable.

Tama's revolutionary Grooved Hoop design merges vintage aesthetics with modern technology, representing years of research into hoop evolution and its impact on snare drum sound. This comprehensive package includes the MS20RL14C snare wire and showcases multiple US patents, demonstrating Tama's commitment to innovation in professional percussion hardware.
