Tama Starclassic Ltd Ed Starclassic 6-Piece Shell Pack (Flat Black)

This special-edition six-piece shell pack from Tama's Starclassic series takes an all-black concept to its absolute limit, coating every visible and internal surface in matte black. The shells themselves feature black-painted interiors paired with transparent batter heads on the toms, allowing drummers and audiences to see the depth of colour through the clear skins. The configuration includes a 22”x16” bass drum with Fiberskyn-style black front head, 10”x8” and 12”x9” rack toms, plus 14”x12” and 16”x14” floor toms, all finished in flat black with matching matte black lugs, hoops and hardware throughout.

Tama equips the optional matching snare with a 6mm shell built from four plies of birch reinforced by two inner plies of maple, measuring 14”x6.5” and fitted with Evans Black Chrome batter and Resonant 300 bottom heads. Die-cast hoops with 10 tension points provide precise tuning control, while the 20-strand Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon snare wires deliver crisp response. All mounting hardware follows the same blacked-out treatment: MSL-SCTMBS lugs, MLS30AMB strainer and MLS30BMB butt plate, plus two MC69 single tom attachment systems included with the main shell pack.

The entire aesthetic centres on creating maximum visual impact for stage work and video recording. Covering shells, metal components and drum heads in coordinated black tones produces a monochromatic look rarely seen in production drum kits. The transparent tom heads reveal the internal shell colour while playing, adding movement and depth to the visual presentation without compromising the all-black character of the finish.
