Tama Mike Portnoy 14x5.5 Snare Drum

The Tama Mike Portnoy 14x5.5 Signature Snare Drum redefines what drummers can achieve with a single instrument, offering unprecedented tonal flexibility without the need to swap gear mid–performance. Crafted from 8mm, 9–ply bubinga wood, this professional–grade snare produces a dark, punchy tone with exceptional clarity that works brilliantly across live performances and studio recordings. The naturally rich voice is enhanced by die–cast chrome hoops and Starclassic lugs, providing both durability and precise tuning stability that serious drummers demand.

The standout innovation lies in the 3–way Tension Adjustable Strainer, which allows instant switching between off, loose, and tight snare settings with a simple flick of the mechanism. This clever design provides immediate access to various sonic textures, making it perfect for dynamic musical arrangements and mood shifts. The 20–strand Starclassic carbon steel snare wires guarantee excellent response and articulation, giving drummers the control, power, and expression needed for modern drumming styles.

Built for versatility and professional performance, this signature model eliminates the hassle of switching snares for different effects while maintaining the robust construction that withstands even the most enthusiastic playing sessions. The combination of premium materials, innovative hardware, and Mike Portnoy’s design input creates a snare drum that adapts on the fly, offering ultimate tonal flexibility for drummers who refuse to compromise on sound quality.
