TAMA's Ergo-Rider throne redefines what drummers can expect from their seating, combining the manoeuvrability of a round seat with the playing support of a saddle-style design. This hybrid approach features a front cutaway that allows unimpeded thigh movement during rapid double bass patterns, while the seat lock utilises a two-piece locking hinge collar system with an oversized wing nut for superior connection and easy tightening. The innovative design eliminates the typical "wobble" that affects standard seat-to-throne base connections.

The 1st Chair throne system offers the precision of threaded rod height adjustment combined with the convenience of T-bolted systems for fast setup changes. Both height and angle of the backrest unit are fully adjustable to provide support regardless of your playing position, and the backrest can now fold onto the seat without disassembly for easier transport. The backrest unit is also available separately and fits all 1st Chair thrones.

Stability comes from multiple engineering innovations, including the super stabiliser design that lowers the centre throne pipe to achieve a lower centre of gravity. The tripod legs feature extended stabiliser bars and double-braced construction that doesn't taper at the rubber foot insertion points. The Glide-Tite Grip Joint creates metal-to-metal contact for secure attachment, while TAMA's "Rocklok" system uses a specially designed Nylon Bushing to prevent side-to-side motion within the base.

Additional stability features include extra-large rubber feet that are 1.5 times larger than previous TAMA designs, plus the innovative Foot Life plastic leg attachment that eliminates metal-to-metal contact for extended foot life. The HT741 Ergo-Rider Backrest throne comes standard with the Quartet 4-leg base, providing rock-solid stability for even the most dynamic playing styles.
