The Stylophone CPM DF-8 is an analog dynamics processor and multimode filter designed to reshape incoming audio with voltage-controlled filter topologies and envelope-following circuitry. Built around discrete analog components, this compact desktop unit accepts line-level or instrument signals and applies time-variant filtering determined by the amplitude envelope of the input source. The result is a responsive tool for rhythmic filter sweeps, percussive tonal shaping, and frequency-dependent dynamics control that reacts in real time to playing dynamics.
Eight filter modes span low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch configurations, each with continuously variable resonance control that reaches self-oscillation at higher settings. The envelope follower circuit tracks input amplitude and modulates the filter cutoff frequency, with dedicated attack and decay controls ranging from 1ms to 1 second per stage. Threshold and depth parameters determine how much signal amplitude translates into filter movement. Quarter-inch jack inputs and outputs handle instrument and line-level sources, while an auxiliary input allows external audio to trigger the envelope circuit independently of the main signal path.
