Experience the soul-stirring warmth of vintage tape echo the moment you strike your first chord. The El Capistan captures all the saturated, distinctive qualities and subtle nuances that made classic tape machines legendary, instantly creating that unmistakable atmosphere musicians have craved for decades. From crisp slapback echoes to expansive psychedelic soundscapes, every note resonates with stunning richness and depth that responds musically to your playing and adjustments.

This remarkable pedal houses three different tape machine types, each offering three unique modes plus extensive control over tape quality, machine health and tone shaping. You can dial in everything from the full-range sonic stability of a factory-fresh echo unit to the heavily fluctuating character of a well-travelled machine that's seen countless gigs. The sound ranges from the full-bodied clarity of fresh tape through to the dark, gnarled and atmospheric qualities of worn-out tape, while the integrated spring reverb adds further spatial dimension.

Built around meticulously handcrafted dTape™ technology and a powerful ARM DSP processor, the El Capistan offers tape experiences that would be impossible with traditional hardware. The sound-on-sound looping capability opens up multi-layered ambient possibilities, all without the maintenance headaches of actual tape machines. Professional features include MIDI connectivity, stereo inputs and outputs, true and buffered bypass options, plus dedicated tap tempo and on/off footswitches.

The technical specifications reflect serious attention to audio quality, featuring a premium JFET analogue front end, 24-bit 96kHz converters, and 32-bit floating point processing via a 520MHz ARM processor. The robust anodised aluminium chassis measures 11.4 x 10.2 x 4.4 cm and includes expression pedal input, USB connectivity for MIDI control and firmware updates, plus a 9V DC power supply. Designed and built in the USA, this pedal represents the pinnacle of modern tape echo emulation.
