The Sterling by Music Man Sub Ray5 H brings five–string bass performance derived from the iconic StingRay blueprint into accessible territory. Built around a single ceramic humbucker in the bridge position, this instrument channels the focused midrange punch and tight low–end definition that made the original a studio and stage staple. The maple neck runs through a modern C profile with a 34" scale length, while the dual–action truss rod allows precise relief adjustment across the entire five–string range down to the low B.
The ceramic humbucker routes through active two–band EQ with bass and treble controls, providing 12dB of cut or boost at frequencies selected to emphasise the fundamental and harmonic content where bassists actually operate. Hardware includes a die–cast bridge with string–through–body or top–load configuration, and Sterling's own lightweight tuners maintain stable pitch across the extended register. The maple fingerboard measures 10" radius with 21 medium frets, and the Black finish over the basswood body delivers a straightforward aesthetic that keeps attention on the output.
