Since 1998, SPL's Transient Designer has fundamentally changed how audio engineers approach dynamics processing, introducing level-independent control that operates without traditional threshold settings. The latest Transient Designer 4 Mk2 houses four channels of this revolutionary processing technology in a single 19″ rack unit, featuring premium solid aluminium knobs and refined ergonomics that enhance the tactile experience during critical mixing sessions.

The core innovation lies in SPL's Differential Envelope Technology (DET), which uses just two intuitive controls – attack and sustain – to manipulate audio signal envelopes with musical intelligence. Attack adjustment provides up to 15 dB of transient boost or attenuation, while sustain control offers up to 24 dB of dynamic range for lengthening or shortening decay characteristics. All time constants adapt automatically to match the input signal's natural behaviour, ensuring optimal results across diverse source material.

Professional connectivity comes via Neutrik XLR sockets with gold-plated contacts, operating at +6 dB nominal level with full electronic balancing throughout the signal path. Channels 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 can be linked for stereo processing, with the left channel serving as master. Each channel features an On switch for instant A/B comparison and a Sig LED indicating input levels above -20 dB, while relay-based hard bypass circuitry maintains signal integrity even during power failures.

Built to professional standards, the unit combines a 4mm thick black anodised aluminium front panel with precision-milled solid aluminium controls, all housed in powder-coated steel construction.
