The Atlas Compressor serves as your personal tour guide through the rich history of compression technology, packing six legendary compressor styles into one compact pedal. From classic stompbox squashers like the Dan Armstrong Orange Squeezer and the now-discontinued Diamond Optical Compressor to high-end studio rack units including the snappy 1176 and the smooth LA2A optical compressor, Atlas captures the tone and feel of the industry’s most coveted compression circuits. The pedal also features advanced dual-band compression with independent controls for high and low frequencies, plus comprehensive onboard controls for Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, Output, Tone, and Blend.

The Optical Rack compressor engine recreates the legendary LA2A studio opto compressors from the early 60s, using light-based compression control for remarkably smooth and gentle attack characteristics. This compression style produces a full-bodied, natural sound that works brilliantly with clean strummed or arpeggiated guitar lines as well as acoustic guitars. Source Audio has also ventured into serious compression territory with Peak, RMS, VCA, and Dual compression modes, plus an onboard Expander circuit.

While the Atlas presents a straightforward 4-knob interface on the surface, connecting to the free Source Audio Neuro editing tools unlocks professional-grade compression control typically found in studios and DAW software. The Neuro Mobile App and Desktop Editor provide real-time gain reduction readouts and advanced features including Look Ahead compression, Soft Knee control, Auto Makeup Gain, 8-Band Graphic EQ, Parametric EQ, and Side Chain signal detection controls. Users can access an extensive library of Factory Presets and community-created presets through the Atlas Neuro Community.
