After eleven years of refinement, Sontronics has unleashed the SIGMA 2, a phantom-powered ribbon microphone that represents the cutting edge of British audio engineering. Building on the success of the original SIGMA, which became a studio staple worldwide, this second-generation model incorporates two years of intensive research and development. The SIGMA 2 joins the new DELTA 2 and APOLLO 2 as part of Sontronics’ latest ribbon microphone range, showcasing the pinnacle of their technological advancement.

Hand-crafted at Sontronics’ UK headquarters, the SIGMA 2 features bespoke circuitry and premium British-made electronics, including a custom-wound transformer manufactured exclusively in Poole. The microphone’s construction utilises precision-cut British stainless steel mesh and CNC-engineered metal components throughout. A standout innovation is the incorporation of RFI (radio frequency interference) filters, making the SIGMA 2 the world’s only ribbon microphone with this interference-protection technology, particularly beneficial for live performance applications.

The SIGMA 2 maintains the super-sensitive ribbon motor of its predecessor while offering enhanced performance across the frequency spectrum. With extremely high sensitivity and remarkably low self-noise, it captures vocals, speech, woodwind instruments, strings, and guitar amplifiers with exceptional detail and natural accuracy.
