Solid State Logic SSL Bus Comp Classic Bus Compressor

For more than fifty years, one dynamics processor has defined the sound of finished records across every major studio on the planet. The SSL Stereo Bus Compressor returns in dedicated 1U format as the Bus Comp Classic, a faithful recreation that extends the original's focused workflow with Variable VCA Drive, expanded compression parameters, and true stereo external side-chain capability. Only Solid State Logic could deliver this level of authenticity, reconnecting with the essentials that made the Bus Compressor a trusted centrepiece of professional mixing. This is the compressor that shaped countless hit records, now refined for modern production demands.

At the heart of the circuit sit high-performance THAT 2181 VCAs, offering a sonic range from SuperAnalogue™ transparency through to 4K character with up to 10% THD when VCA Drive is engaged. Precision stepped controls govern ratio, attack, release, and side-chain high-pass filtering, ensuring total recall across sessions. The integrated side-chain HPF sits alongside a genuine stereo external side-chain input, enabling frequency-conscious compression and creative ducking effects. SSL's Auto Release mode adapts dynamically to programme material, while expanded ratio and time constant options push the design beyond its original parameters without sacrificing the sound that made it legendary.
