The STC-3M4 brings Seymour Duncan’s renowned Music Man Tone Circuit to your bass with four comprehensive controls that shape your sound from the ground up. This active preamp features dedicated bass, treble, and midrange controls alongside a master volume, giving you precise command over your instrument’s voice. The treble response spans from brilliant clarity to smooth warmth without harsh brittleness, while the bass frequencies remain deep, clear, and tight. Meanwhile, the midrange sweep covers everything from ultra-smooth tones to punchy attack and all sonic territory between.
What sets this circuit apart is the innovative Slap Switch – a push/pull function built into the volume control that engages a specialised EQ contour designed specifically for slap bass techniques. Two small trim pots on the circuit board allow you to fine-tune this slap contour to your exact preferences, creating a personalised setup that responds perfectly to your playing style.
Originally designed for Stingray basses, the STC-3M4 will function in any bass equipped with a single passive pickup and sufficient cavity space for four control knobs plus a 9V battery. For players seeking additional headroom, two 9V batteries can be wired in series. The complete package includes high-quality potentiometers on a pre-wired harness, battery clip, stereo jack, and black anodised knurled dome knobs. Note that this preamp requires a standard 2-coil Music Man style pickup and is not compatible with 3-coil Sterling style pickups.
