Seymour Duncan's FLF Model is a high-output humbucker born from Ryan "Fluff" Bruce's collaboration with the Custom Shop. This signature pickup merges coils from two Seymour Duncan classics—the JB Model and Black Winter—paired with an Alnico 4 bar magnet. The result: a humbucker engineered for aggressive drop-tuned rhythm work without sacrificing expressiveness on leads.
The bridge pickup measures 16.6k DCR with 17.4k on the tremolo side, delivering high output with a throaty midrange and percussive bite. Alnico 4 magnets provide enough gauss strength to drive modern high-gain applications while retaining clarity and responsiveness to pick dynamics. The passive design uses a 4-conductor shielded cable, black nickel hardware, and matte black bobbins. Rolling the volume knob reveals a mellow clean chime, expanding the tonal range from crushing crunch to articulate rhythm work.
Built in California, the FLF Model powers Dragged Under's sound and features on Fluff's limited-edition Ernie Ball/Music Man StingRay. The pickup excels in tight, heavily-compressed tones where note separation matters, yet remains responsive enough for ambient textures when the gain backs off. Gigging musicians and studio players after a single-pickup workhorse will find the FLF delivers across drop-A tuning, standard tuning, and everything between.
