These pickups are genuine single-coil P90 Soapbars cleverly housed within humbucker covers, originally developed in the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop for Hamer Guitars before moving to regular production due to popular demand.

The Phat Cats capture all the authentic grit and growl you’d expect from a quality vintage P90 Soapbar in the bridge position, whilst the neck pickup provides that classic P90 bounce and sparkle. Your chords will ring with bright harmonic overtones, and solos cut through with that signature P90 edge and clarity.

Built with two Alnico 2 bar magnets for enhanced sustain and compressed attack, these pickups feature metal covers that offer superior shielding and noise reduction compared to standard soapbar covers. Additional features include a nickel silver bottom plate, single-conductor braided hookup wire, and vacuum wax potting to prevent unwanted squealing. The neck pickup is wound reverse polarity to the bridge pickup, ensuring quiet operation when both pickups are selected together. Each Phat Cat pickup is hand-built in Santa Barbara, California.
