When legendary blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa discovered the extraordinary tone of his pristine 1950 Fender Broadcaster®, he knew the world needed to hear what made this rare instrument so special. The Fender Broadcaster® stands as one of electric guitar history's most iconic models, with only around 250 believed to have been manufactured between autumn 1950 and spring 1951, before Fender renamed the model to the now-famous Telecaster® by late 1951. Finding a Broadcaster® in exceptional condition presents an even greater challenge for collectors and players alike.
Working closely with vintage guitar authority Joe Bonamassa, the Seymour Duncan team meticulously tested and documented the original pickups from his coveted 1950 Broadcaster® to create these faithful replicas. Joe characterises the neck pickup as bright and perfectly balanced, complementing the punchy flat-pole bridge pickup beautifully. These pickups capture the authentic spirit of Leo Fender's original design, evoking the foundational sounds of early blues, rock & roll, and country music.
Crafted in the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop, this pickup set features Alnico 2 magnets in the neck position and Alnico 4 magnets in the bridge, complete with cloth push-back cable for period authenticity. The first 250 sets receive special treatment with raw steel bottom plates personally signed by both Joe Bonamassa and Seymour W Duncan, aged to match the original pickups from Joe's guitar and presented in numbered limited edition packaging.
