Joe Bonamassa's legendary 1960 dot-neck Gibson ES-335 with blonde finish has inspired one of the most sought-after humbucker recreations in recent memory. When Seymour Duncan approached the blues virtuoso to recreate pickups from one of his favourite guitars, Bonamassa was quick to offer up “The Blonde Dot” – a pristine instrument purchased from a mate with an impressive collection of vintage dot neck 335s. The pickups in this rare guitar proved to be some of the most balanced P.A.F.s in Joe's extensive collection.
Bonamassa characterises the neck pickup as “stratty and clear” whilst describing the bridge pickup as “punchy and dark”, creating a balanced set that sounds brilliant in any guitar. To faithfully capture these distinctive tones, this vintage set employs an Alnico 2 magnet in the neck position, while a stronger Alnico 4 magnet was selected to best reproduce the qualities of the original bridge pickup.
Matching the like-new condition of the original Blonde Dot, these pickups feature unaged nickel covers and come supplied with black pickup rings. The first 800 sets are presented in limited edition packaging and include bottom plates personally signed by both Bonamassa and Seymour Duncan. “The Blonde Dot” pickups are perfectly suited to your ES-335, Les Paul, or any guitar requiring authentic P.A.F. humbucker tone.
