Sequential DSI Oberheim OB6 Desktop Analogue Synth

Born from a legendary collaboration between synthesiser pioneers Dave Smith and Tom Oberheim, the OB-6 Desktop Module brings the massive, in-your-face sonic signature of classic Oberheim synthesisers into a compact, backpack-friendly format. This analogue powerhouse features the same comprehensive control layout as its keyboard counterpart, with full-sized knobs and switches providing immediate access to all parameters. The module maintains the complete analogue signal path with discrete voltage-controlled oscillators and filters, whilst adding modern enhancements like studio-quality digital effects and poly chain capability for twelve-voice polyphony when paired with another OB-6.

At its heart lies a sound engine inspired by Tom Oberheim’s original SEM, featuring two discrete VCOs plus sub-oscillator per voice with continuously variable waveshapes including sawtooth, variable-width pulse, and triangle waves. The classic 2-pole, state-variable, resonant filter offers low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and notch functionality, whilst voltage-controlled amplifiers complete the fully analogue signal path. The dual effects section provides 24-bit, 48 kHz digital processing with true bypass, including reverbs, delays, chorus, flangers, and faithful recreations of Tom’s original phase shifter and ring modulator.

Creative possibilities expand through X-Mod functionality, allowing dramatic sound manipulation via filter envelope and oscillator 2 modulation sources with bi-polar control over multiple destinations. The polyphonic step sequencer accommodates up to 64 steps with 6 notes per step, whilst the full-featured arpeggiator syncs to external MIDI clock. With 500 factory programs, 500 user programs, and Manual mode for live panel control, the OB-6 Desktop Module combines legendary analogue tone with modern functionality in a portable package perfect for both studio and stage applications.
