Samba Djembe 12 Inch PVC Lug Tuned - Mud Cloth Finish

The thunderous heartbeat of West Africa comes alive with the Samba Djembe 12 Inch PVC Lug Tuned with Mud Cloth Finish, bringing centuries of rhythmic tradition to modern musicians. Known as the "Devil Drum" due to its origins from Dimba or "Devil Wood" trees, the djembe (pronounced 'jem‐beh') stands as one of the planet's most versatile and widespread percussion instruments. This goblet‐shaped drum traditionally carved from African hardwood has captivated players worldwide with its distinctive sound and cultural significance.

This particular model features a striking mud cloth design with tribal finish, combining a 12" diameter head with 60cm height for optimal playability. The PVC body construction paired with lug tuning system and synthetic head makes it both durable and easily adjustable. Playing technique involves striking the drum with hands and fingers to produce the full range of tones this instrument is famous for.

Size selection proves crucial for djembe players, with most adults requiring a head diameter of at least 9"‐10" for comfortable playing. The 12" diameter of this model suits players seeking that extra range of sound and comfortable hand positioning that larger drums provide, making it an excellent choice for both beginners and seasoned percussionists.
