Building on two decades of percussion excellence, the OCTAPAD SPD-20 PRO represents the evolution of Roland’s beloved SPD-20, incorporating user-requested features and cutting-edge percussion technologies while maintaining the core appeal that made the original a global favourite. This enhanced version retains the famous eight-pad layout, legendary sounds, and rugged durability that percussionists have relied on for years, now upgraded with more responsive playability, additional sounds and functions, and an improved user interface.
The SPD-20 PRO houses an impressive collection of over 900 premium-quality instruments, including every sound from the original SPD-20 plus an extensive selection of new additions. High-end acoustic drums and cymbals originally developed for the TD-27 V-Drums sound module sit alongside authentic world percussion sounds covering Asian, African, Latin, and numerous other musical styles. Three onboard effects engines, each offering 38 multi-effects types, can be applied to individual instruments, while EQ and compression further expand the sonic possibilities.
With 100 ready-to-play preset kits and comprehensive customisation options, the SPD-20 PRO adapts to any musical situation. The backlit LCD and direct-access buttons enable real-time sound editing during performance, while the pad link function allows up to four sounds to be layered on a single pad. The kit chain function organises your setups to match your set list, ensuring quick access to the right sounds when you need them most.
Beyond its eight sensitive rubber pads, the SPD-20 PRO features four dual-trigger inputs and a dedicated hi-hat control input for expanded setup possibilities with optional Roland trigger pads, V-Cymbals, and accessories like the BT-1 Bar Trigger Pad. Designed in Japan with Roland’s renowned build quality, this briefcase-sized percussion powerhouse provides dependable, road-ready performance for everything from intimate acoustic sets to large-scale ensemble work.
