Roland MC-707 Groovebox Live Sequencer/Synth

The MC-707 GROOVEBOX delivers professional music production and live performance capabilities in a single, computer-free unit that puts creative control directly at your fingertips. This comprehensive platform combines eight tracks of recording and sequencing with synthesisers, effects, and a carefully curated library of sounds, loops, and phrases crafted by renowned artists and sound designers. The intuitive interface features 16 ultra-sensitive pads for playing drums, basslines, and chord progressions, while the TR-REC step sequencer mirrors the workflow of classic Roland drum machines for rapid rhythm construction.

At its core, the MC-707 runs Roland's advanced sound engine that merges virtual analogue synthesis with modern PCM technology, housing iconic sounds from legendary machines like the TR-808, TR-909, TB-303, JUNO-106, and SH-101 alongside contemporary digital textures. The built-in sampler captures audio on-the-fly with automatic tempo synchronisation, allowing you to record vocals or instruments and manipulate samples through truncation and reversal. Each of the eight tracks features independent effects processing with extensive variations, from lush chorus and spatial reverbs to overdrive and amp simulation, plus master effects including filters and bus compression.

Physical control remains central to the MC-707 experience, with dedicated faders for immediate mixing, assignable knobs for sound shaping, and the ability to record knob movements for automated playback. The unit functions as an advanced USB audio interface, enabling seamless integration with DAW workflows for multitrack recording or sample capture from software instruments. Regular updates keep the platform current – Version 1.8 introduced undo/redo functionality, clip import/export capabilities, cross-compatibility with MC-101 and VERSELAB MV-1 units, plus new MFX effects including Exciter, Phonograph, and JD Multi.
