Professional studios worldwide have contributed their finest recordings to create SRX STUDIO, the third instalment in Roland's acclaimed wave expansion board series that brings mix-ready instrumentation directly to your DAW. This comprehensive collection captures expressive pianos, crisp guitars, refined wind instruments, punchy bass and drums, plus much moreall recorded with natural studio ambience and enhanced with built-in effects. The versatility of this single plug-in allows you to construct complete professional productions using multiple instances.
Before virtual instruments became standard, Roland keyboards and sound modules served as the professional solution for accessing diverse, high-quality sounds from one source. Instruments such as the JV-1080, XP-80, and XV-5080 could expand their sonic capabilities through user-installable expansion boards, each containing specialised sampled waveforms tailored to different musical styles and genres.
Following the concept's debut in 1992 with the JV-80 synth, Roland's wave expansion board catalogue eventually expanded to over 30 titles across two formats and multiple hardware generations. For more than two decades, SRX and SR-JV80 boards became essential tools for top producers, composers, and performers globally, with their distinctive sounds featured in countless hit songs, film soundtracks, and various media productions.
The SRX software synthesiser plug-ins resurrect these beloved sounds through Digital Circuit Behaviour (DCB) technology, which reproduces every nuance by combining original sample ROM data with advanced behaviour modelling that replicates the hardware's digital components and circuitry. Deep synth editing parameters allow complete sound customisation, while contemporary Roland hardware synthesisers like the SYSTEM-8 can map directly to the plug-ins for hands-on control and streamlined workflow.
