This compilation brings together nearly 400 ready-to-play patches from Roland's most popular keyboard sounds of the era, including acoustic and electric pianos, synths, organs, guitars, woodwinds, and more. Musicians familiar with the original hardware will recognise these time-tested sounds, while newcomers gain access to an organised selection that works across any musical style.

Before virtual instruments became standard, Roland keyboards and sound modules served as the professional solution for accessing diverse, high-quality sounds in one instrument. Models like the JV-1080, XP-80, and XV-5080 could be expanded with user-installable boards, each containing specialised sampled waveforms for different genres. Starting with the JV-80 synth in 1992, Roland's wave expansion board collection grew to over 30 titles across two formats, becoming essential tools for top producers, composers, and performers worldwide.

The SRX software synthesizer plug-ins utilise Digital Circuit Behaviour (DCB) technology to faithfully reproduce every detail of the original hardware. This advanced system combines the original sample ROM with behaviour modelling that replicates the digital components and circuitry of the source instruments.
