The JUPITER-4 Software Synthesiser brings this iconic instrument into the modern era through Roland's advanced ACB (Analogue Circuit Behaviour) technology, which meticulously recreates every circuit, quirk, and instability of the original hardware. This authentic recreation captures the warm, fat tones that defined synth pop and new wave, complete with the groundbreaking "Compuphonic" digital voltage control and eight preset storage capabilities that made the original so revolutionary.
Despite featuring just a single VCO, the JUPITER-4 produces remarkably massive sounds through the combined interaction of its oscillator, filter, LFO section, and built-in ensemble chorus. The ACB modelling process captures not only individual components but how they work together to create that distinctive sonic magic. Roland has enhanced this software version with extended oscillator range, adjustable noise, velocity sensitivity, sub-oscillator volume control, and a flexible arpeggiator, plus additional effects including phaser, flanger, overdrive, reverb, and delay alongside the faithfully modelled lush Ensemble chorus.
The innovative Circuit Mod function and Condition parameter allow you to explore the character variations that made vintage analogue synths so special. You can sweep through multiple internal trim settings using a single macro control and simulate everything from factory-fresh specifications to the unique drift and aging characteristics of a well-used instrument. Full integration with the SYSTEM-8 keyboard provides intuitive one-to-one control, while PLUG-OUT functionality transforms your SYSTEM-8 into a standalone eight-voice JUPITER-4 for both studio and stage applications.
