The Roland JD-Xi breaks new ground as an interactive analogue/digital crossover synthesiser that puts three distinct synth sections at your fingertips. The monophonic analog synth section provides classic square, triangle and saw waveforms with analog filtering and pulse-width modulation, plus an independent sub-oscillator for serious low-end punch. Meanwhile, the two digital synth sections offer 128-voice polyphony alongside an extensive range of high-quality synth tones including pads, strings and sound effects.
Hands-on control comes naturally with 37 mini keys and comprehensive controls across the unit. The built-in gooseneck mic works seamlessly with the Vocoder and AutoPitch functions, allowing you to sing along while controlling pitch and tone. Four simultaneous effect sections — Effect 1 and 2, Delay and Reverb — can be switched on or off independently for the three synthesiser sections and drums, giving you complete control over your mix.
The intuitive pattern sequencer features four separate tracks for creating rich-sounding loops, while Roland’s Axial sound library provides several free new sounds and patterns to expand your sonic palette. Both step and real-time recording modes let you fine-tune your sounds on the fly. Dynamic electronic and acoustic drum kits round out the package with quality rhythm tones, and you can personalise each kit using pan, pitch, envelope and filter parameters on individual drum sounds.
