The MADIface USB redefines portable MADI connectivity by cramming professional 64-channel recording and playback capabilities into a compact, bus-powered interface that works seamlessly with both Mac and Windows systems. This versatile unit supports full redundancy operation through its dual MADI inputs, whilst optionally providing simultaneous 128-channel input and output access when both I/Os are engaged together. The integrated TotalMix routing matrix handles all mixing and signal management, and remarkably, the device functions as a bi-directional format converter and active repeater even when no computer is connected.
Multiple operation modes cater to different workflow requirements, from basic 64-channel mixing to advanced 128-channel configurations with independent output routing. The AutoSelect feature automatically switches between inputs in real-time for seamless redundancy, ensuring uninterrupted operation if one input fails. When TotalMix is disabled, the unit operates in straight routing mode with mirrored outputs carrying identical signals, perfect for simple pass-through applications.
Built around RME’s renowned SteadyClock technology and proven MADI compatibility, the MADIface USB integrates effortlessly with existing professional setups. The interface supports sample rates from 44.1kHz up to 192kHz with exceptional jitter performance below 1ns, whilst MIDI over MADI functionality enables remote control of connected MADI devices. The package includes DIGICheck analysis software and features both optical and coaxial BNC MADI connections, making it an ideal desktop solution for connecting MADI equipment to any computer system.
