RME ADI-2/4 Pro EX 768kHz High Performance Converter & Interface

Two analog inputs, four analog outputs and a 127 dBA signal-to-noise ratio sit inside a single half-rack, 1U chassis. The RME ADI-2/4 Pro EX 768kHz converter pairs an ES9823Pro A/D chip with an ES9039Q2M D/A chip, clocked by SteadyClock EX, which is factory calibrated to ±1 ppm. It works as a studio AD/DA stage, a USB DAC, a mastering hub and a headphone amp, all driven by a 32-bit / 768 kHz conversion path.

Two combo XLR/TRS inputs accept reference levels down to -35 dBu, so dynamic microphones connect directly, while RIAA equalisation in Line mode suits external phono preamps and moving coil systems. Balanced Line and Balanced Phones outputs run at the same time with different signals, and the rear TRS can be fed from either path for insert effects during mastering. A graphical IPS display shows peak meters, a 30-band analyser and a state overview. USB-C is Class Compliant (UAC 2.0), with 2-in/2-out stereo and 6-in/8-out multichannel modes.

The Extreme Power headphone stage has three outputs with High Power, Low Power and IEM states, plus Pentaconn connectors for balanced IEM use. In True Balanced mode, maximum output reaches +7 dBu for IEMs, +13 dBu on Low Power and +25 dBu on High Power. DSP adds 5-band parametric EQ, Bass/Treble, Crossfeed and Loudness control. Optical SPDIF/ADAT, coaxial SPDIF and AES connect via the breakout cable, and ADAT channels 3/4 can be routed straight to the headphones. A ground terminal, active fuse-less power protection and per-channel DC protection round out the hardware.
