A thinner body, a thinner neck and a flatter feel define the PRS Tekton, the hardtail entry in PRS's new family of modern electric guitars. A figured mango top sits over a mahogany back, with a shallow violin carve, a sculpted heel and an exaggerated upper-fret scoop for easy access. It is the thinnest body and neck PRS has put into standard production, yet the Modern “D” neck shape stays substantial enough to feel like a proper guitar.
The ebony fingerboard has a 16-inch radius, a 25.5-inch scale length, stainless steel frets and offset dot inlays with blue Luminlay side dots. String spacing matches the Silver Sky and Fiore, slightly wider than traditional PRS, which helps arpeggios and pick attack stay clean. Purpose-built Stylus humbuckers use Alnico 5 magnets and a flatter response, holding their character through a tube amp while sitting comfortably with modelling rigs. Every position and coil split is designed to be usable.
String-through construction and individual saddles on the PRS hardtail bridge give precise intonation, added resonance and sustain, while lightweight Phase III locking tuners keep pitch steady. Controls are simple: a volume, a push/pull tone control and a three-way blade switch. The finish is high-gloss nitro over a satin nitro neck. Colours include Slate Blue, Imperial Topaz, Black Tourmaline, Violet Tourmaline, Bloodstone Red and Fuchsia Aura, and a PRS Premium gig bag is included.
