John Mayer's collaboration with Land Rover Defender brings automotive heritage directly onto this bolt–on electric guitar, one of only 500 instruments worldwide finished in Sandglow Yellow. The colour palette derives from Mayer's personal vintage Defender collection, translating four iconic Land Rover finishes into limited–run Silver Sky models produced by PRS Guitars. This Australian–delivered example pairs the bright Sandglow Yellow body with a contrasting roof colour treatment borrowed from classic two–tone Defender SUVs, extending the automotive design language across both body and matching painted headstock. A serialised neck plate reading "1 of 500" confirms the guitar's place in this restricted production run, and each model ships in a moulded ATA flight case bearing a custom "DEFENDER" badge.
The bolt–on maple neck joins a familiar alder body loaded with three custom single–coil pickups wound to Mayer and PRS's vintage–voiced specifications. The tremolo system uses a two–point knife–edge design with vintage–style bent steel saddles, while the 635mm scale length and 7.25" fretboard radius replicate classic mid–century feel. A bone nut pairs with locking tuners for stable tuning under vibrato use, and the five–way blade switch delivers traditional single–coil tones across neck, middle, and bridge positions. PRS proprietary electronics handle the passive circuit, with volume and dual tone controls shaping output before the standard 6.35mm output jack. Fretwork spans 22 frets on a rosewood fingerboard, meeting PRS Core–level fit and finish standards throughout the assembly.
