The Modern Eagle V represents a breakthrough in guitar electronics, combining traditional craftsmanship with cutting–edge pickup technology to create an instrument that spans decades of iconic tones. This sophisticated guitar features a unique hum/single/hum five–coil pickup configuration paired with an intuitive 5–way blade switch that selects pickups in logical groupings: treble, treble and middle, middle, middle and bass, and bass positions.
The guitar’s versatility extends through its push/pull tone control, which activates both humbuckers simultaneously, allowing access to all three pickups at once. Mini toggle switches provide the ability to split the humbucker coils individually, converting the outside pickups into genuine single coils. This comprehensive electronics package places an extensive range of classic and contemporary tones within easy reach.
Built with premium appointments including a maple top over mahogany back, the Modern Eagle V features a 22–fret mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard, bone nut, and 25" scale length. The instrument is completed with PRS’s patented Gen III tremolo system. According to Paul Reed Smith, “Modern Eagle models have always been built to stand up to history while celebrating tonewoods and the discovery of new tones. The Modern Eagle V is a sophisticated instrument not only in its craftsmanship but in its electronic and mechanical design.”
