Mark Tremonti's journey to his signature PRS guitar began during Creed's tour supporting their breakthrough album My Own Prison, when PRS reached out to offer him one of their instruments. The guitarist, who had always admired PRS guitars but couldn't afford them during his school years, eagerly accepted the opportunity to try a McCarty model and was immediately captivated by its quality and playability.
While Tremonti played the McCarty exclusively for some time, he recognised the need for an instrument better suited to his distinctive playing approach. His style, which draws from thrash metal, shred, and traditional blues influences, required specific modifications to achieve the sound and feel he was after.
Working closely with PRS, Tremonti developed his signature model to address these requirements. The collaboration focused on creating more aggressive pickups that would complement his rhythm playing, particularly the palm–muted sections that feature prominently in his work. PRS also incorporated their Pattern Thin neck carve to accommodate his technical playing style, resulting in the Mark Tremonti Signature guitar that perfectly matches his musical vision.
