Born from over two decades of meticulous collaboration between Paul Smith and renowned guitarist David Grissom, the DGT (David Grissom Trem) represents the pinnacle of guitar craftsmanship and tonal excellence. Built upon the proven McCarty platform, this instrument features a distinctive DGT neck profile, taller frets, and specially developed pickups that set it apart from conventional guitars.
The heart of the DGT lies in its custom humbuckers, which were perfected through an exhaustive year‐long process where Grissom and Paul tested over forty different pickup sets. This dedication to sonic perfection resulted in pickups that capture authentic vintage tones while offering modern versatility through individual volume controls and a push/pull master tone control for coil‐tap functionality.
As David Grissom himself explains: "The DGT is a product a lot of miles down the road: a lot of gigs, a lot of records. It’s like picking up a vintage guitar. It sounds like a vintage guitar, and out of the box it’s ready to go. There’s a whole lot of thought gone into this. The DGT is pretty perfect to me."
