Born from two decades of meticulous collaboration between Paul Smith and David Grissom, the DGT (David Grissom Trem) represents the pinnacle of electric guitar craftsmanship. Built upon the foundation of the McCarty model, this instrument features a distinctive DGT neck profile, taller frets, and specially developed pickups that underwent extensive testing and refinement.
The heart of the DGT lies in its custom humbuckers, which were perfected after Grissom and Paul Smith conducted exhaustive A/B testing of over forty different pickup sets throughout an entire year. These pickups capture that coveted vintage voice while offering remarkable versatility through individual volume controls for each pickup and a push/pull master tone control that activates the coil taps, providing exceptional articulation across all playing styles.
“The DGT is a product a lot of miles down the road: a lot of gigs, a lot of records. It’s like picking up a vintage guitar. It sounds like a vintage guitar, and out of the box it’s ready to go. There’s a whole lot of thought gone into this. The DGT is pretty perfect to me,” explains David Grissom, highlighting the instrument’s road-tested reliability and vintage-inspired tone that’s ready for professional use straight from the case.
