Combining the absorption power of high-density glass wool with the sound-blocking strength of gypsum board, the Primacoustic ThunderTile™ represents a breakthrough in acoustic ceiling tile technology. These innovative T-bar ceiling tiles tackle both reverberant sound control and primary reflection elimination, making communication clearer in any space. The design features a pure white finish over acoustically transparent micromesh tissue that fully encapsulates a ¾″ (20mm) layer of 6lb per cubic foot (96 kg/m³) high-density glass wool, where sound waves cause minute glass fibres to vibrate and absorb sound energy.
Built for retrofit installation into existing T-Bar systems, ThunderTiles come in square 24″ x 24″ (60cm x 60cm) and rectangular 24″ x 48″ (60cm x 120cm) panel sizes. You can choose between space-saving ‘trim’ edge treatment for flush-mounting across both sizes, or the ‘reveal’ edge option in the 24 x 24 size that drops below the T-Bar for an architecturally sculpted look. The panels feature Absolute White™ finish for optimal reflectance and can be painted to match your requirements.
Unlike low-cost mineral wool alternatives, ThunderTiles resist sagging from moisture, making them ideal for areas with fluctuating temperatures and humidity. The acoustic panel layer is laminated to a ½″ (13mm) heavy gypsum board that provides crucial sound-blocking mass, preventing sound transmission between adjacent rooms through the air space ‘plenum’ above the panels. Fully tested to meet stringent ASTM-E84 fire and smoke development requirements for Class-A/1 designation, ThunderTiles suit conference rooms, music rooms, home theatres, call centres, medical offices, restaurants, and any environment where echo reduction and noise control are essential.
