Precision meets practicality in the PRM1 Precision Reference Microphone, a specialised condenser microphone engineered specifically for audio analysis rather than recording. This professional measurement tool features a ¼” pre-polarised electret-condenser capsule with an omnidirectional polar pattern that captures sound equally from all directions, making it ideal for measuring both direct signals and room reflections. The microphone’s linear frequency response spans the full audible spectrum from 20 Hz to 20 kHz without colouring the sound, while handling sound pressure levels up to 132 dB SPL.
Built for accuracy in system tuning and room analysis, the PRM1 works seamlessly with real-time analysers (RTAs), spectrographs, and various measurement applications including MLSSA™, Spectrafoo™, and TEF™. The microphone requires phantom power and features a deliberately narrow dynamic range optimised for receiving test frequencies like pink noise at consistent levels. While this design makes it unsuitable for recording purposes, it excels at helping sound engineers tune systems for accurate reproduction in any given space.
PreSonus has specifically optimised the PRM1 for use with their Virtual StudioLive™ software featuring Smaart Measurement Technology™, as well as the StudioLive 24.4.2 and 16.4.2 digital mixers, creating a comprehensive and cost-effective audio analysis solution. The microphone’s robust all-metal chassis ensures durability in professional environments, and it comes complete with a mounting clip, foam windscreen, and protective hard case for secure transport and storage.
