The Pearl Championship Maple Series Marching Tenor Tom Set stands as the pinnacle of marching percussion excellence, crafted through collaboration with today's most prestigious Drum & Bugle Corps. This professional–grade tenor set features a 6–ply 100% maple shell construction that produces the natural balance of mid to high frequencies that has become the industry standard. The extra deep shells incorporate Pearl's Sonic Cut technology to maximise resonance whilst increasing focus and projection, making these tenors the perfect complement to FFZ snare drums.
Built for the demands of competitive marching, these tenors feature 2.3mm Steel SuperHoop II rims secured by high–strength 6mm case–hardened tension bolts that permit the highest tension without failure, performance after performance. The redesigned lightweight aluminium lug casings provide exceptional strength and evenly disperse head pressure during aggressive tuning. The 12" and 13" drums include 8 tension casings instead of the standard 6, ensuring improved tuning accuracy and even tension distribution across the drumhead.
Pearl's Superior Shell Technology sets these tenors apart through meticulous construction methods that create the ultimate air chamber. Select maple woods are milled to precise thickness with overlapping scarf joint seams, then saturated with Pearl's proprietary "AcoustiGlue" that permeates every pore and dries to match the wood's consistency for optimal resonance. The shells are formed using high–temperature moulds with 1000 PSI of hydraulic pressure, whilst 2–ply support rings add tremendous stability and shape integrity. Fully rounded bearing edges provide complete head–to–shell contact, and 40mm aluminium spacers between drums ensure even weight distribution and improved playability ergonomics, all backed by a comprehensive 3–year shell warranty.

Championship Maple Tenor Shells have a natural balance of mid to high frequencies that set the industry standard and changed the face of corps competition. Pearl’s Superior Shell Technology is used to make a 6-ply shell out of maple, the drum industry’s premium for dynamic range, sensitivity, and unsurpassed projection.
These six plies are then enhanced with 2-ply support rings to add tremendous shell stability and shape integrity. Fully rounded bearing edges provide full head to shell contact, increase kinetic energy transfer to the shell, and create maximum shell resonance.
