Palmer's Pinn River Series active DI-box captures guitar, bass, and keys with signal integrity intact across two independent channels. Unlike passive designs, active circuitry delivers higher input impedance–crucial for preserving the tonal character of magnetic pickups, piezo elements, and high-output synthesisers without treble or bass rolloff. Whether tracking a stereo source, layering two instruments, or running an amp's output through the mix, this dual-channel solution handles the job without colouration.
Each channel features balanced XLR outputs with galvanically isolated transformers and independent Ground Lift switches to kill ground loop hum on longer cable runs. A sum output combines both channels into a single mix feed, saving mixer real estate in compact setups. Thru outputs route signals straight to instrument amps whilst the 30 dB pre-attenuation pad accommodates amp-output sources without distortion. Power flexibly from 48V phantom or a standard PSU (9–24V DC).
The two-channel architecture proves especially useful for singer-songwriters tracking acoustic guitar and vocal simultaneously, or session rigs pairing guitar and synth bass into front-of-house. XLR outputs remain bulletproof over distance, ensuring studio recordings and live feeds arrive at the console with pristine definition and zero noise penalty.
Features
- Two independent channels with balanced XLR outputs and galvanic isolation.
- Active circuitry with high input impedance preserves magnetic and piezo pickup tone.
- Thru outputs route instrument signals to amplifiers whilst mixing separately.
- Sum output combines both channels; reduces mixer channel count.
- Individual Ground Lift switches eliminate ground loop hum per channel.
- 30 dB pre-attenuation pad handles amp outputs without unwanted distortion.
- Powered by 48V phantom power or 9–24V PSU; no external adaptor required.
- Transformer-coupled XLR outputs remain immune to interference over long cable runs.
