Paiste Formula 602 Modern Essentials 22 Inch China Cymbal

The Paiste Formula 602 Modern Essentials 22 Inch China Cymbal represents a groundbreaking collaboration between Swiss craftsmanship and drumming legend Vinnie Colaiuta's uncompromising sound vision. Forged from the legendary 602 Bronze (CuSn20), this handcrafted cymbal opens up new sonic dimensions that bridge the gap between transparency and complexity. The result is a versatile instrument that combines the stick definition of Formula 602 Classic Sounds with the rich, warm darkness of the Signature Traditionals series.

This 22–inch china cymbal excels across multiple musical genres including Pop, Rock, Jazz, Fusion, Blues, R&B, Country, and Folk. Its wide frequency range and complex, dense mix provide musicians with explosive, strong, dark accents alongside a sophisticated, washy ride sound. The cymbal's fairly soft, responsive feel makes it equally suited for recording sessions and live performances, offering that extra pizzazz that sets it apart from its Classic Sounds counterparts.

Key specifications include medium weight and volume, dark sound colouring, and long sustain with an integrated bell character. The cymbal's sound profile is characterised as dark, warm, strong, exotic, sizzling, and earthy, with a rough yet rich frequency mix. As Vinnie Colaiuta notes, "The China is nearly smooth," highlighting its modern approach to traditional china cymbal design while maintaining extensive musical application possibilities.
