Oberheim OB-X8 Analogue Synthesizer

After more than four decades, the legendary Oberheim sound has returned with the OB-X8, featuring a 100% analogue audio path that cuts through any mix with the same warmth and punch that made classics like Prince's 1999, Van Halen's Jump, and Rush's Tom Sawyer so unforgettable. This isn't just another vintage-inspired synth – it's a genuine Oberheim that combines the three distinct voice architectures of the OB-X, OB-Xa, and OB-8 into one incredibly powerful instrument. The design team meticulously analysed and recreated the complex interactions between components from each original model, capturing every nuance and character trait that made these synths legendary.

The OB-X8 goes beyond simple replication with over 40 "page 2" parameters that unlock hidden sonic possibilities, including additional SEM filter modes, per-voice panning, LFO keyboard tracking, and independent pulse width control. Its premium Fatar 61-key keyboard provides velocity and aftertouch sensitivity for expressive performance, while bi-timbral capability allows you to split or layer two different sounds simultaneously. With 600-plus factory programs including the complete original sound banks from all three classic models, plus new sounds from world-class designers, you have an extensive palette ready to use.

The recent OS v2.0 update adds even more functionality with binaural mode for true stereo operation, selectable oscillator waveshapes, a new 4-pole low pass filter, and doubled memory capacity to 512 stored sounds. Additional features include MIDI poly chain capabilities for up to 32 voices across four connected instruments, making this the most versatile OB-series synth ever created. With its discrete SEM-lineage oscillators and filters, genuine Curtis filters, and meticulously modelled envelope responses, the OB-X8 provides the most authentic and comprehensive Oberheim experience possible.
