Neumann U67 SET Studio Tube Microphone (Nickel)

The legendary Neumann U 67 tube microphone has returned to production after decades, bringing back the iconic studio sound that shaped modern music from 1960 onwards. Originally designed as the successor to the renowned U 47, this microphone quickly established itself as the new studio standard with its three selectable polar patterns, advanced tube circuitry, and innovative features including low cut and pad switches. Many top-level engineers still consider the U 67 their ultimate “desert island” microphone due to its extraordinary versatility and unmatched sound quality.

The U 67 introduced the famous K 67 capsule that became synonymous with “the Neumann sound” and continues in the U 87 A today. Its masterful tube circuit features a clever pre-emphasis/de-emphasis scheme to minimise tube hiss, while the switchable low cut filter compensates for proximity effect during close miking. With preattenuation capabilities, it handles high sound pressure levels up to 124 dB without distortion, making it suitable for demanding recording situations.

This universal studio microphone excels across all applications, from vocals with its smooth top-end and subtle tube shimmer to instruments including strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, drums, and both acoustic and electric guitars. The current reissue maintains complete sonic authenticity to the original 1960–1971 models, using identical capsule and electronic designs with meticulously reproduced components like the BV 12 output transformer and carefully selected EF86 tubes for optimal performance and lowest noise.
