The MXR Poly Blue Octave redefines what an octave pedal can be, combining cutting-edge polyphonic pitch shifting with classic fuzz and modulation effects in one comprehensive unit. This innovative pedal features four distinct octave divisions—one and two octaves down, plus one and two octaves up—each with individual level controls for precise mix balancing. The polyphonic operation ensures chords sound just as impressive as single-note passages, while your dry signal maintains its own dedicated level control for perfect tonal blending.
The Mono switch unlocks the gritty character of vintage analog pitch shifters, giving sub-octave signals the warm, raw personality reminiscent of the MXR Vintage Bass Octave, while higher octave signals channel the classic Octavio Fuzz with reduced intensity. An unruly fuzz circuit inspired by the legendary MXR Blue Box™ Fuzz can be applied across all five signals, with volume adjustment via the Dry knob after pressing and holding the Fuzz button. Sub-octave fuzz tones are thick and subterranean, while higher frequencies become searing and synth-like.
Dual-mode modulation adds compelling movement to your octave tones, from thick and syrupy to frenzied textures. Polyphonic mode simulates the famous Leslie effect, while monophonic mode provides classic swirls and swooshes inspired by the Phase 90. The modulation affects all five signals when engaged, with rate control via the Mod knob—simply roll it fully counterclockwise to disengage. The EXP jack accommodates expression pedals like the Volume (X)™8 or switches such as the MXR Tap Tempo Switch for real-time parameter control or preset switching between configurations.
