MOTU's Ethno Instrument 2 is a world and ethnic instrument plugin built on the UVI Engine XT platform. It houses 21GB of recordings spanning Asia, Africa, Europe, the Balkans, the British Isles, Latin America, and Australia, taiko, large African drums, Indian instruments, gongs, bells, and regional vocals all recorded at high fidelity. The library is more than twice the size of the original, making it the most comprehensive ethnic sound collection available in a single plugin.

Search and browse by category or geographic region, then tempo-lock any loop to your session. Use the one-click Slice feature to trigger individual beats from your keyboard or convert loops to MIDI and drag them into your DAW. The plugin supports microtonal tunings and scales with Scala-format import, IRCAM time-stretching for pitch correction without artefacts, and a built-in convolution reverb for spatial placement. Build arrangements with unlimited instrument parts. It runs standalone with up to 64 MIDI channels on macOS and Windows, or load it as a plugin in your host.
